History Revisited

on

In 2012 I was lucky enough to attend an evening of Athletics at the Olympic Games in London.  There I got to see some star athletes  compete for the glory of becoming Olympic Champion.  A year before, it was announced that London would host the World Athletics Championships in 2017 at the Olympic Stadium.

Since then, the stadium has been re-modelled and is now the home of West Ham United Football Club but has the dual use of becoming a world class Athletics Stadium in the summer months as well as a concert venue.

And so it was that I found myself at the opening night of the 2017 World Athletics Championships on 4 Aug 17.  With world stars on show such as Mo Farrah and Usain Bolt, I was looking forward to a great night.  Below are the best of the pictures I took that night with a small commentary for each.

Farrah wins!!!!  One of the greatest 10,000m races ever.  His competitors tried to run the finish out of him  by running fast surges but he was equal to all the challenges.
